Circle – The Basic Geometrical Figure

Shapes are an integral part of one’s daily routine. We are surrounded by shapes all the time, let it be the shape of the food we eat or on the floor we walk. We are surrounded by shapes. There are various shapes that we use on an everyday basis like cube, cuboid, cylinder, square, or a circle. One of the most important shapes that we use in everyday life is a circle. The circle is not only about finding its area by just writing down the area of circle formula but it means much more. Circle has become the daily routine of one’s life.

Maths is a very large subject consisting of a large variety of types and forms like algebra, geometry, or simple maths. This all makes up the subject that is feared the most among the remaining ones. Mathematics is a never-ending field that will keep on increasing based on its growth on regular basis. Therefore it is a definite and necessary subject to be taught to pre-primary children or primary or secondary class children or let it be someone studying engineering behind all this mathematics is a must. Shapes and Mathematics go hand in hand. The study of shapes and sizes of objects in mathematics is related to geometry.

To be more precise, Geometry is that branch of mathematics that deals with shapes, drawing, sizes of different objects.

Among the many of the shapes, for now, let us discuss a circle

The perfectly closed body which consists of a center from which it is drawn is termed a circle.

The distance from the center of the rounded body or the circle to any point on its boundaries is called the radius of the circle.

The diameter of the circle is the line that passes from the center of the circle and touches one boundary to another one.

The chord of the circle is that line that joins two points on the circle. So it will be better to say that the diameter is the largest chord of the circle.

The sector is that region of the circle that consists of two radii’s and an arc will be present such a region within is called the sector.

The line that will touch the boundary of the circle or the circumference of the circle at a point is called a tangent to the circle.

Here are some of the properties of a circle:

Chords of the circle which is equal subtend equal angle at the center of the circle.

The radius drawn perpendicular to the chord of the circle will bisect the chord of the circle.

The perpendicular distance from the center of the circuit will decrease when the length of the chord of the circle will increase

The tangents which are drawn to the end of the diameter of the circle will not meet each other or in other words, will be parallel to each other.

Two circles will be tagged as the congruent circle if they consist of radii’s which are equal.

The circumference of the circle is equal to the product of pi and the radius multiplied by two that is

C=2πr

The area of the circle is equal to the product of pi and the square of the radius that is

A=πr^2 where r is the radius of a circle.

The equation of circle is equal to a square of x adding with a square of y equalling to radius square that is :

(x)^2 + (y)^2=r^2 where r is the radius of the circle.

The circle is one of the basic tools for geometry. Without a circle, geometry would be incomplete. The circle is one of the easiest and simple topics to get through. Although to clear one’s weak concepts about the circle or any other mathematical tool one needs to just go and type Cuemath in a google search engine to make the work easy and clear all one’s doubt. This will help one to achieve his goal easily.
